New releases of 2021 I'm really looking forward to!
There are quite some books on my shelves that I have been waiting for for a while now, but thankfully they're being released this year! hopefully....
Anyway, I'm hoping to find some of these on Netgalley, but mostly I just want to get to read them this year.
Most of these books are parts of a series, so I'll add those in a separate list so no one is unnecessarily spoiled in case there are spoilers in the synopsis. Others are books by authors I really loved the writing of and some are just ones I saw in GR articles for the new releases of this year.
So, without further ado, let's get to the books releasing in 2021 I'm really excited for!
Maybell Parrish has

Thoughts:
I read You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle in 2020, and I really loved it, so I'm really excited to see more of her writing style! It's funny and like a crack-fic, but in a good way! And I'm getting lots of enemies-to-lovers vibes, so I can't wait!

Thoughts:
This I'm mainly excited for because Beauty and The Beast retelling how can I not? Also, genderbend on this retelling? Really loving it.

executive producer of America's favorite reality show, Before Midnight.

Thoughts:
The first thing that caught my eye with this one was the cover...THAT COVER IS B-EE-AA-UU-TI-FUUULLL (too many syllables? I don't care). Fae-hate? Enemeies-to-lovers vibes? I can't wait! The only thing I'm worried about is the love triangle...because I just don't like love triangles
A prim and proper
lady thief must save her aunt from a crazed pirate and his dangerously
charming henchman in this fantastical historical romance.
Cecilia
Bassingwaite is the ideal Victorian lady. She's also a thief. Like the
other members of the Wisteria Society crime sorority, she flies around

Historical romance? Assassins?!? Thieves?!?!?! Could this get any better?

Thoughts:
Usually, I'm not one for widow/widower romance because those get really depressing sometimes with the constant comparisons and betrayal-feelings, but I'm really excited for this! Mostly because forced/fake/pretend marriage is one fo my favourite tropes, and it says it's perfect for Christina Lauren and evie Dunmore fans!!
A refreshingly timely and relatable debut novel about a young woman whose life plans fall apart when she meets her wife.
With
her newly completed PhD in astronomy in hand, twenty-eight-year-old
Grace Porter goes on a girls’ trip to Vegas to celebrate. She’s a
straight A, work-through-the-summer certified high achiever. She is not
the kind of person who goes to Vegas and gets drunkenly married to a

Thoughts:
This might be my first F/F romance in quite some time! Also, drunk Vegas weddings are the epitome of the fake/forced marriage trope! And POC rep? You will not believe how quickly this was added to my TBR!

Yet another Victorian romance, but what can I say? I love those accents! And spies too!??! And a bodyguard!??! When can I get this?

Thoughts:
This is slightly different from what I usually pick up at first glance for my TBR, since well, the...*ahem* slightly... detailed cover. But, the fake/pretend/forced marriage trope seemed to be present in this, and yet another Historical romance, I decided to try this out! That is, of course, when it becomes available...
At thirty-three-years

plans a holiday in a quaint English village. The holiday package comes

bookish Evie, a life-long Shakespeare lover.
Not only is Evie
swept up in running the delightful store as soon as she arrives, she's
drawn into the lives, loves and drama of the friendly villagers.
Including Roane Robson, the charismatic and sexy farmer who tempts Evie
every day with his friendly flirtations. Evie is determined to keep him
at bay because a holiday romance can only end in heartbreak, right? But
Evie can't deny their connection and longs to trust in her handsome
farmer that their whirlwind romance could turn in to the forever kind of
love.
Thoughts:
I saw cute cover, I saw bookshop, I saw English village, and I saw vacation. And I was instantly intrigued about this! And though the description does seem to suggest that the romance might be a bit cliche, I'm still excited to read it!
Shay Goldstein has been
a producer at her Seattle public radio station for nearly a decade, and
she can't imagine working anywhere else. But lately it's been a
constant clash between her and her newest colleague, Dominic Yun, who's
fresh off a journalism master's program and convinced he knows
everything about public radio.
When the struggling station
needs a new concept, Shay proposes a show that her boss green-lights
with excitement. On The Ex Talk, two exes will deliver relationship
advice live, on air. Their boss decides Shay and Dominic are the perfect
co-hosts, given how much they already despise each other. Neither loves
the idea of lying to listeners, but it's this or unemployment. Their
audience gets invested fast, and it's not long before The Ex Talk
becomes a must-listen in Seattle and climbs podcast charts.
As
the show gets bigger, so does their deception, especially when Shay and
Dominic start to fall for each other. In an industry that values truth,
getting caught could mean the end of more than just their careers.
Thoughts:
Normally, I avoid second chance romance, because it just doesn't appeal to me as much as the out-with-the-old, in-with-the-new trope...but this, surprisingly, doesn't seem to have the second chance romance, despite the title! And so the the hinted enemies-to-lovers, and kinda fake/pretend/forced relationship tropes that this seems to include have made me put this on my TBR!

Ruthie
Midona has worked the front desk at the Providence Luxury Retirement
Villa for six years, dedicating her entire adult life to caring for the
Villa’s residents, maintaining the property (with an assist from DIY
YouTube tutorials), and guarding the endangered tortoises that live in
the Villa’s gardens. Somewhere along the way, she’s forgotten that she’s
young and beautiful, and that there’s a world outside of work—until she
meets the son of the property developer who just acquired the
retirement center.
Teddy Prescott has spent the last few years
partying, sleeping in late, tattooing himself when bored, and generally
not taking life too seriously—something his father, who dreams of
grooming Teddy into his successor, can’t understand. When Teddy needs a
place to crash, his father seizes the chance to get him to grow up.
He’ll let Teddy stay in one of the on-site cottages at the retirement

won’t stop getting under her skin.
Ruthie doesn’t count on the
fact that in Teddy Prescott, the Biddies may have finally met their
match. He’ll pick up Chanel gowns from the dry cleaner and cut Big Macs
into bite-sized bits. He’ll do repairs around the property, make the
residents laugh, and charm the entire villa. He might even remind Ruthie
what it’s like to be young and fun again. But when she finds out
Teddy’s father’s only fixing up the retirement home to sell it, putting
everything she cares about in jeopardy, she’s left wondering if Teddy’s
magic was all just a façade.
Thoughts:
This is the third book my Sally Thorne, and while I didn't love 99 Percent Mine as much as I did The Hating Game, this one has me with high hopes! The enemies-to-lovers vibes, the old women who are going to torture the guy( I might the teensiest bit more excited because of this, because who doesn't want to see an old woman taking down a grown man?), and the misunderstandings trope that seems to be in this? I can't wait!
For cynical
twenty-three-year-old August, moving to New York City is supposed to
prove her right: that things like magic and cinematic love stories don’t
exist, and the only smart way to go through life is alone. She can’t
imagine how waiting tables at a 24-hour pancake diner and moving in with
too many weird roommates could possibly change that. And there’s
certainly no chance of her subway commute being anything more than a
daily trudge through boredom and electrical failures.
But then, there’s this gorgeous girl on the train.
Jane.
Dazzling, charming, mysterious, impossible Jane. Jane with her rough
edges and swoopy hair and soft smile, showing up in a leather jacket to
save August’s day when she needed it most. August’s subway crush becomes
the best part of her day, but pretty soon, she discovers there’s one
big problem: Jane doesn’t just look like an old school punk rocker.
She’s literally displaced in time from the 1970s, and August is going to
have to use everything she tried to leave in her own past to help her.
Maybe it’s time to start believing in some things, after all.
Casey McQuiston’s One Last Stop is
a magical, sexy, big-hearted romance where the impossible becomes
possible as August does everything in her power to save the girl lost in
time.
Thoughts:
Another F/F romance (there are so little of these, in the way I want them, at least), and it's written by Casey McQuiston! I loved Red, White, and Royal Blue (and I really need to reread that one!) and I can't wait for this! I am a bit skeptical about the fantasy and time displacement concept in this, but I still want to read it!
After a public meltdown
over her breakup from her cheating musician boyfriend, Cherisse swore
off guys in the music industry, and dating in general for a while,
preferring to focus on growing her pastry chef business.
When
Cherisse’s younger sister reveals she’s getting married in a few months,
Cherisse hopes that will distract her mother enough to quit harassing
her about finding a guy, settling down and having kids. But her mother’s
matchmaking keeps intensifying.
Cherisse tries to humour her
mother, hoping if she feigns interest in the eligible bachelors she
keeps tossing her way, she’ll be off the hook, but things don’t quite go
as planned. Turns out for the first time in ages, she and Keiran King,
the most annoying man ever, are on the island at the same time. Avoiding
him is impossible, especially when Keiran’s close friend is the one
marrying her sister, and he’s the best man to her maid of honour.
Keiran
doesn’t know what to make of Cherisse now. They’ve always butted heads.
To him she’s always been a stuck-up brat who seeks attention, even
while he secretly harbored a crush on her. Now with Cherisse’s sister
marrying one of his good friends he can’t escape her as the wedding
activities keep throwing them together.
When things turn heated
after a rainy night of bedroom fun, they both have to figure out if they
can survive the countdown to wedding day, without this turning into a
recipe for disaster.
Thoughts:
This is one I saw in my feed, and the cover really caught my eye! Also, bridesmaid-groomsman romance is always interesting! Also, this seems to be an enemies-to-lovers, so hell yeah!
Addie and her sister
are about to embark on an epic road trip to a friend's wedding in the
north of Scotland. The playlist is all planned and the snacks are
packed.
But, not long after setting off, a car slams into the
back of theirs. The driver is none other than Addie's ex, Dylan, who
she's avoided since their traumatic break-up two years earlier.

and his best mate are heading to the wedding too, and they've totalled

Thoughts:
I have been so excited for another book by Beth O'Leary! After loving The Switch and The Flatshare, I decided to read everything I could get my hands on by this author! Though this is a second-chance romance, I'm willing to give it a try....road trips are one of my favourite tropes! Two people, trapped together in a closed space, trying their best to hate the other person....what could possibly go wrong?
